Edgar Stiltner began training at the age of 12. He trained with several American
martial arts masters in a variety of martial arts prior to joining the United States
Air Force in 1973.
While in the Air Force, Stiltner sensei trained in Korea for 6 months (Tae-Kwon-Do)
and in Japan for 1-month (Karate). As well, Shihan served for 6 years as the head martial
arts instructor for Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois.
In November of 1979, Shihan Stiltner was featured in
Black Belt Magazine. He is
also featured in the Who's Who in American Martial Arts publication; and is also
featured in the first edition (1986) of Masters, Founders, and Leaders of American
Martial Arts.
Shihan is the author of
The Technical Manual of American Karate (1985)
and
The Power of KI (1995). He has also written many articles
for martial arts publications such as Black Belt Magazine.
Shihan Stiltner has been a Training Commissioner and Bonded Public Safety
Deputy for Winnebago County Sheriff's Department, Rockford, Illinois. He is a recognized
member and Official Advisor of the International Martial Arts Federation (Kokusai Budoin),
Okinawa/Japan. He is also the United States President of the Yudansha Kobujitsu Karate-Doh
Federation, Canada and is recognized by the International Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo
Federation, the World Jiu Jitsu Kobudo Federation, and Wado-Kai. In addition, he is recognized
as a charter member of the World Union of Martial Arts Federations and is recognized
by all the organizations encompassed by W.U.M.A.F. Shihan Stiltner now trains directly
under Master Shian Toma in Karate-do and Toide. He travels to the orient every other
year for training.
Shihan Founded Toku-Kai International in 1983 and is currently residing as the
International President of Toku-Kai.
